You may recognize trainer, Emily Meier, from around the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center. Learn more about the reasons why she became a personal trainer and what keeps her motivated!
Why did you become a trainer?
“I became a trainer for a few different reasons. Growing up, I was an extremely active kid which drove me to become extremely passionate about health, wellness, and fitness. As a trainer, I get to share that passion with my clients every day! I am also a firm believer and supporter of preventative health care. The better you take care of yourself now – the healthier, happier future you are creating for yourself. I think it is my duty to help my peers and clients understand that.”
What is unique about your training style?
“My training style is backed by science. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University. I am an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, EXOS Fitness Specialist, EXOS Performance Specialist, and TRX Group Suspension Trainer.”
What can your training clients expect when working with you?
“My clients can always expect a great workout, but they can also expect much more. I love to show my clients that they are capable of much more than they may think. Goal setting, positive affirmations, and positive attitudes are essential in my sessions. They can also expect a good laugh or two.”
What is your key to staying motivated?
“Setting goals for myself! Both long term and short term.”
What is the benefit of working with you for personal training?
“I like to teach, not just coach. I want my clients to feel empowered by knowing how to do certain exercises and the reason behind why we do them.”
What is your guilty pleasure?
“I have a sweet spot for Donuts. In moderation of course!”
What workout accessory can you not live without?
“My headphones!!! And my body. When in doubt, bodyweight workout it out.”
