Still skipping breakfast to lose weight?

You’re not doing yourself a favor if you’re skipping breakfast. When you wake up in the morning, you’re in a fasted state. If you don’t eat breakfast, your body will continue to break down your fuel stores for energy leaving you tired and hungry throughout the rest of the day.

Start your day off right with breakfast as soon as you can, and continue to eat small meals every two to three hours after that. It’s good to fuel early and often.

Kicked-up Avocado Toast
How to build it:
Start with 1 slice toasted whole wheat bread, and then smash 1/2 of an avocado and sprinkle on some shredded carrot (we used the bagged kind, but you could also shred your own). Add two shakes of Trader Joe’s “Everything But The Bagel” Seasoning and top with a fried egg. The best part about this recipe is it can be modified however you want.
TIP: Try substituting the shredded carrot with 1T of TJ’s Carrot and Cashew Dip. Yum!

Savory Oatmeal
How to build it:
Start by putting 1/4 cup of quick cook steel cut oats in a bowl with 3/4 cup water and microwave for about two minutes. Then, mix in 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and top with veggies and egg (you can even throw a pinch of cheese on top if that’s your thing!) Salt and pepper to taste and you’re out the door!
TIP: You can also add healthy nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds) and your favorite savory seasonings (we like za’atar and Penzey’s Sunny Paris)
