What made you become an instructor at the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center?
“I care deeply about physical activity as a means of keeping both my body and mind in shape. Having studied movement and its impact on brain health, I decided to become an instructor to share this and motivate others to take (and stay in) control of their health.”
What is unique about your teaching style?
“My classes are designed to engage the brain. Each class offers movement puzzles to challenge the brain while encouraging participants of all levels to recognize their body’s personal patterns of strength, flexibility, and balance.”
What can members expect when taking one of your classes?
“Expect to work hard and share plenty of laughs!”
What is your key to staying motivated?
“I’m most successful at staying motivated when I set mini attainable goals each week – consistency is key. Enlisting a friend to join in helps keep me accountable.”
Who inspires you?
“Paul Bach-y-Rita: he transformed the conversation about neuroplasticity by expanding our understanding of sensory substitution (the process of using technology to convert one sensory stimuli into another).”
What’s the best piece of professional advice that you’ve ever received?
“If you don’t know, the thing to do is not to get scared, but to learn.” — Ayn Rand
