How to Drop a Few Dress Sizes, Even at 58 Years Old

A Weight Loss Success Story: Joy Fox*

Tell us a bit about you and what you’ve accomplished.

Well first off, I lost 70 pounds in only one year. As a 58-year-old woman, I never knew that was possible. What’s more, I’m keeping the weight off. I owe it all to the My New Weigh program.

What was the program like?

It was a pretty easy routine to follow, really. Every Tuesday for 20 weeks, I showed up at the center at 5:30 p.m. along with about 10 other women in the program. We spent an hour learning how to use meal replacement products to shed weight. Then, we worked with two of the center’s registered dietitians. They were integral to my long-term success in maintaining my weight, and they focused on teaching me how to eat proper portions of nutritious foods.

What’s different about My New Weigh?

A lot of overweight people feel shame. But at the center and during the entire program, they understand that a negative approach is not the way to do it. They’re always positive.

Would you like to pass anything on to others considering the program?

Absolutely. About halfway through the course, my blood sugars tested normal and had already dropped down a few dress sizes. I didn’t do it for vanity, but it’s a nice side effect. I’m no exercise freak, but I do want to live to be a very old woman. I know that My New Weigh has given me that chance.
