Celebrate National Ice Cream Month With These 3 Healthy Frozen Treat Recipes

Happy National Ice Cream month! Cooling off in the summer with a frozen treat is one of the best feelings in the world! So to honor this sweet treat, we’ve put together three delicious ice cream alternatives that are healthy and don’t require added sugar or an ice cream maker!

Strawberry Banana Sorbet

Strawberry Banana sorbet

Serving size: ½ recipe
Servings per recipe: 2

Ingredients

2 frozen bananas, chopped into very small pieces (less than ½ inch thick)
½ c frozen strawberries, chopped into small pieces
1/3 cup water
1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Place all ingredients in blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

Creamy Cold Brew

Coffee ice cream alternative

Serving size: ½ recipe
Servings per recipe: 2

Ingredients

2 frozen bananas, chopped into very small pieces (less than ½ inch thick)
1/3 cup cold brew coffee
1 Tbsp coffee grounds
1 Tbsp almond butter
1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Place all ingredients in blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

Chocolate Strawberry Yogurt Bark

Serving size: ½ recipe
Servings per recipe: 2

Ingredients

1 cup reduced-fat vanilla Greek yogurt
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
4 strawberries, sliced into thin strips (less than ¼ inch think)

Instructions

Mix together Greek yogurt and cacao powder. Spread half of the yogurt mixture into a thin layer onto a piece of aluminum foil or parchment paper. Place strawberry slices on top of yogurt mixture. Layer the other half of yogurt mixture on top of strawberry slices. The entire yogurt layer should be about ¼ inch thick. Place layered yogurt sheet in the freezer. Freeze for at least 2 hours before serving.
