FibroScan® Assessment: Now Available at the CU Wellness Clinic!

The CU Wellness Clinic at Anschutz Health and Wellness Center now offers appointments for FibroScan, a non-invasive exam that helps you better understand your liver health, specifically early detection of fatty liver disease.

FibroScan in use.

What is FibroScan?
FibroScan is an ultrasound device used to assess liver health without invasive tools. FibroScan helps your doctor measure liver stiffness and liver fat scores in a quick (5-10 minutes) and painless procedure. Results are immediately available for your doctor to discuss with you.

Who would benefit from a FibroScan assessment?
You may be a good candidate for FibroScan if you are overweight, experience obesity, or experience metabolic diseases such as prediabetes, diabetes, or metabolic syndrome. This is just one of our tools to diagnose fatty liver disease early!

What does a FibroScan assessment cost?
The CU Wellness Clinic will typically bill your insurance for the FibroScan procedure. However, self-pay is also an option.

What do I need to do to prepare for a FibroScan assessment?
Patients need to fast for at least three hours prior to their examination. FibroScan cannot be performed on pregnant women or patients with electronic implantable devices (such as pacemakers, cochlear implants, etc.).
