Construction Updates

As you may know, we have had significant climate control issues in the lower level of the Center, especially in Studio 3, since the Center opened six years ago. An investigation last summer revealed that the system in place is insufficient for evacuating the amount of warm, humid air that accumulates in the basement (from the laundry room, steam rooms, saunas, pool and activity in Studio 3).

The long-term solution we identified to permanently solve this issue is the semi-reconstruction of the ventilation system in the basement.

The first phase of construction is currently scheduled to begin on 5/29 and may last until 6/8. During the first phase, Studio 3 will be closed. The second phase will begin on 7/2 and may last until 7/13.

The second phase will require the closure of Studio 3, as well as the laundry room, hot tub, men’s and women’s steam rooms, and men’s and women’s saunas. The length of the closure is based on a worst-case scenario and may be shorter than the above dates.

Our goal is to maintain our services and group exercise schedule as well as we can, which will require some classes to shift around. The temporary Group Exercise schedules for the first phase are available below, along with construction updates. Updates will also be posted at the front desk center and via email, if we have new information.

As always, our first and most important priority is the member. The HVAC renovations are essential, not only for comfort, but also to ensure safety of our members in the basement level. We have been planning and studying the best way to handle this for some time, and much thought and discussion has been put into how to do it with the least amount of inconvenience to our members.

Please feel welcome to reach out to me with any questions, concerns or suggestions in anticipation of the construction, or during. Candice Baumgardner, our group exercise manager is also available for any questions related to the modified group exercise schedule during construction.

Thank you for being a member of our community and for your patience in the upcoming weeks.

REVISED FRIDAY JULY 6, 2018

Correction to Earlier Email Regarding Construction

We apologize for the miscommunication regarding towel service next week. Due to the laundry room closure during the Studio 3 HVAC construction, there will not be any towels available including bath or hand towels. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Dear members,

As you know from previous communications, we have had significant climate control issues in the lower level of the Center, especially in Studio 3, since the Center opened six years ago. As a result, we have had to schedule extensive repair work on the center’s HVAC system. This extended repair project will allow the HVAC system to effectively cool and circulate air throughout the lower level of the Center.

The second phase of the HVAC repair project begins on July 9th and is expected to conclude on July 20th. This phase of the project will require the closure of the steam rooms, saunas and hot tub beginning 7/9, with an expected reopening date of 7/21. Our laundry facilities will also be closed during this phase of the project.

Because the HVAC system will not be running air conditioning, the locker rooms will be warmer than usual during this time. We will do our best to maximize air flow throughout the basement level, but know that you may be less comfortable than usual.

Our members are our first and most important priority. The HVAC renovations are essential, not only for comfort, but also to ensure safety of our members in the basement level. We know that this project will create some inconvenience for our members, but the repairs are necessary for creating and  maintaining a safe, comfortable environment moving forward.

Please feel welcome to reach out to me with any questions, concerns or suggestions in anticipation of the construction, or during. Our group exercise manager is also available for any questions related to the modified group exercise schedule during construction.

As always, thank you for being a member of our community and for your patience in the upcoming weeks.

Be well,

This phase of the project will require the closure of the steam rooms, saunas and hot tub beginning 7/9, with an expected reopening date of 7/21. Our laundry facilities will also be closed during this phase of the project, limiting towel service to hand towels only during this time. Members who require a larger, bath-sized towel will need to bring one for use. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Because the HVAC system will not be running air conditioning, the locker rooms will be warmer than usual during this time. We will do our best to maximize air flow throughout the basement level, but know that you may be less comfortable than usual.
