Fuel Early and Often

Everyone has heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but how many of us actually follow through with this advice? Research shows that eating early and often can benefit your body in big ways.

By eating a healthy breakfast and regular meals throughout the day, you can help keep yourself fueled, and also benefit by

+ Boosting energy
+ Combating stress
+ Controlling mood swings
+ Improving concentration
+ Increasing your metabolism
+ Minimizing fatigue
+ Preventing overeating
+ Regulating blood sugar

…all just by starting strong and staying strong with a plan for the day! Here are some simple tricks to get you started and keep you on track for a properly fueled day, no matter how busy you get.

√ Start the day off right by eating a protein-rich breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up. This will help you jumpstart your metabolism right from the start, and improve your choices throughout the day.

√ Plan on 3 for 3 for a successful day. Having a plan is easier than winging it, and if you plan for 3 meals and 3 snacks, each 3 hours apart, you will be eating often enough throughout the day for energy, and be able to keep yourself focused.

√ Sip to sustain your hydration, another key component to your fuel. Hydration improves your productivity and reduces your stress. How much water is enough? You should be drinking at least half of your body weight in ounces daily. So for a 165 pound woman, that’s 85 ounces of water or other hydrating beverages each day.
